CSK After Returning from Suspension became Champions by defeating all Odds Rewind a couple of months back to the IPL Auctions and you saw experts rating the CSK side 4 or 5 on a scale of 10. They had a large number of aged players in their side. Most players were well past their prime, including the skipper. How did they lift the IPL trophy on 27 May despite being against all odds? How did they even manage to reach the finals? Let us go right back to the team retention. Trusting The Players and Retaining Core: CSK and MS Dhoni can never be thought of separately. The veteran had to be back to his adopted home once the franchise returned to action. The owners did as expected by retaining the three core Indian players - Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja. Not only that, they brought back the coaching staff too. And bringing in Mike Hussey and L Balaji resulted in another masterstroke. The support staff gelled well with the team as they had already been a part of the franchise p...

Highest Run chase in IPL-11 By CSK VS KKR

CSK Scripted another emphatic win in their 2nd game against KKR in Chennai

It was only the 5th game of the tournament but this has reached the limits of Final such is the anxiety and nervousness this match has had. People gone mad by seeing how CSK pulled this one as well.

Highlights of what went down in match 5 of IPL(April 10):

KKR actually started the proceedings well a decent start from Lynn&Narine but both dismissed for Trick of Spin bowling actually a smart captaincy from MS Dhoni but overall A good Start for KKR. And from there on Uthappa carried the team and struck a big blows attacking Csk spinners and KKR are bossing with 64/2 in their Power play thereafter Csk kept taking wickets

KKR were teetering at 89/5 at the end of 10 overs, having lost three wickets in the last nine runs, when Andre Russell came in to bat. Russell slammed CSK bowlers -- including good friend and West Indies teammate Dwayne Bravo - all over the ground, hitting 11 sixes in total. One of those sixes went out of the stadium and match officials had to find a suitable substitute ball. After the match ended, rival captain Dhoni mentioned that knock and praised Russell, half-joking that the should add two runs to the score when the ball is hit out of the stadium. Russell's unbeaten knock of 88 powered KKR to 202/6 and was a delight to watch.

Shane Watson-"The perfect all-rounder"

CSK's star player Shane Watson not only took two KKR wickets - of Nitesh Rana and Dinesh Karthik but also batted so well that CSK got the running start they desperately needed. In just 19 balls, Watson scored 42 runs, slamming three fours and three sixes in the process. Thanks to Watson, CSK managed to win the match even though their run rate fell significantly in the middle overs.

But the real test for CSK started after Dhoni dismissed to Chawla and that's when Sam billings took bowlers allover the ground and played a stupendous knock

Sam Billings hits it and how!
The English batsman was in top form today, hitting two fours and five sixes on the way to his half-century. Having come in after Suresh Raina was dismissed in 11.3 overs, Billings didn't wait for captain MS Dhoni to save the day. Instead, he stepped up and slammed KKR bowlers all over the ground. He actually helped CSK snatch victory from KKR's hands. Even after Dhoni was dismissed in the 17th over, Billings continued to go strong. His stint ended when after scoring 56 runs in just 23 balls, he was finally caught by Robin Uthappa off Tom Curran's bowling in the 19th over.If Watson laid the foundation, it was Billings who built an innings strong enough for Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja to take CSK to victory with one ball left in the game. Billings was awarded the Man of the Match
